But we tend to prefer those that don’t try to trick you with jargon-y specifications like a high thread count. Thanks for your recommendation. That said, some of our favorite bedding manufacturers are exactly what you’d expect-seasoned companies that sold sheets to your parents and their parents. I'm really picky with any purchase and insist on doing research but especially when it comes in contact with my skin.Įdit: I just picked up a set of bedsure to compare for $36. I do want to buy shirts too but the ones I can find are $20-40 and not in my size. I simply washed in warm water like normal, nothing crazy and that's what the brand said I should have done. They claim it fits a 16" mattress but I could get them to barely fit my 10" without my corner keepers. Did yours shrink at all when you washed them? My sheets seemed to shrink but they replaced them without needing to send them back. I tested the Umchord brand but they felt horrible and never left the package. Thank god for Amazon's return policy, they pretty much paid me $75 with their card to find out what I liked and what fit properly.įor sheets, I went the bargain route and went with Hotel Sheets Direct ($33) as soon as I touched them I knew I was done searching. I needed something to protect my legs from the wind.īut hands down the David Archy is the softest most comfortable feeling underwear of the 23 brands and 3-5 variants of each brand, not including sizes. ![]() I can't stand cotton and polyester makes a fine brief ( Reebok) but not boxer briefs. I can't speak for BIFL (but IMO no undies are, or should be) I can say I spent ~$1500 finding the right pairs and tested every (or almost) product with bamboo and polyester. I just switched my undies over briefs and boxer briefs (DAVID ARCHY) for summer and winter. I'm not trying to dunk on you for enjoying what you own, I'm really glad that a product is working for you, but it's not a true representation of a BIFL product when the prescribed fabric care is wildly different than what is actually true for the fiber and the textile science behind it. It's not that linen, in general, needs to be washed in cold water, it's that the company you bought it from needs you to follow the rules to keep their lower quality product from failing. There are a myriad of technical issues with lesser grade linen product that companies sell, and then they cover themselves with specialized care labels. It's likely not full staple length, it might be a multi ply yarn, the chemical stabilizer finishing on the textile might diminish at a high temp wash, the polyester top threads might not survive, etc. The issue with inexpensive (bridge product) linen is that it comes with conditions of care, as you noted, due to lesser manufacturing. You are correct that standard American vented dryers are bad for all fabric care, however a heatpump or condenser dryer are a perfectly fine substitute for linedrying, as they don't overheat. Historically they were boiled in vats while being pounded with wooden batons. Clothingįlax linen is stronger wet than dry and does very well with a hot/sanitize wash to remove biosoil.
